Brief
To create a home cinema for a large spare room (7m x 10m) with sloping ceilings at the customer’s home. The room needed to have a relaxed and welcoming feel but also be suitable for more formal business presentations. A small kitchen area was needed in the room. An existing pool table also had to be incorporated into the scheme.

Interior Design
We were called in to handle the entire project from design through to building work and equipment installation. Our resident interior designer teamed up with our home cinema installation specialist to plan the scheme for the room to ensure that it met the customer’s brief from an aesthetic and technical perspective.

The interior designer produced the overall design for the room and kitchen area – carpets, blinds, wall coverings, furniture including cabinets, and light fittings. The installation team made it all happen.

Bespoke Cabinets
A key part of the design focused on the large (9ft wide) fixed screen at one end of the room. Bespoke cabinets in solid sepele with veneered carcasses were designed and made to accommodate the screen, front speakers, subwoofers and equipment, with multi panelled fielded doors which are closed to hide the screen away from view when it is not in use. Matching cabinets were designed and made for the kitchen area too as well as coffee tables.

The picture part of the home cinema set up comes from a projector mounted on an electric hoist in the ceiling which enables the projector to be lowered when in use and hidden when not. The projector is the top of the range Seleco home cinema projector that produces stunning picture quality, particularly when used in conjunction with the scaler that has been installed.
