Hand & Heart makeover
We have recently installed a music system at the well known Hand and Heart pub on Derby Road. The pub had been closed for a number of years but then the freehold was acquired by Dawn and Taras Suchoruczka who have sympathetically refurbished it. We were approached to design and install a reasonably priced system that would provide good quality sound throughout the pub. We installed 100V line equipment from Monacor www.monacor.com to allow us to use the cabling that had already been put in by the electrician. The system uses an ipod as the source, allowing the user to create playlists that provide an even spread of sound throughout the bar and dining area. “Many pubs fall into the trap of installing a small number of speakers and then have to turn the sound up high, particularly when it is busy, so that the music can be heard,” said Castle’s managing director, Jeff Allen. “The best solution is to install more speakers so that the sound is spread evenly throughout – and that’s the approach we have adopted at the Hand and Heart.” “It’s great to see this pub open again,” added Jeff. “I used to frequent it many years ago so it brings back some fond memories. I really like what Dawn and Taras have done too – they’ve brought up to date without taking away its original character.”

Angela is First Female in Europe to be CEDIA Certified Angela Fronczyk, designer at Nottingham’s top custom installation, home cinema and smart home automation specialist, Castle Sound & Vision, has become the first, and currently the only, female CEDIA* certified designer in the UK and whole of Europe. CEDIA is the world’s main professional body for the custom electronic design and installation industry and introduced this particular qualification in 2003 in order to further improve standards within the industry as well as to provide a system of accreditation, qualification and recognition for its members. For Angela, who has been the designer at Castle Sound & Vision for over a year, gaining this qualification serves to recognise the knowledge and skills that she possesses. These are vital in her role at Castle which involves liaising with customers and designing bespoke sound, vision and lighting systems to meet their specific needs. The systems make maximum use of the latest cutting edge technology and are installed discretely by Castle in the property to minimise their impact on the environment. “I am thrilled to have achieved this qualification as CEDIA sets the benchmark for quality standards in our industry,” said Angela. “It’s also great to be recognised in what is largely a male dominated industry.” “We are all really pleased that Angela has gained this award,” said Jeff Allen, managing director at Castle Sound & Vision which is one of the longest standing CEDIA certified businesses in the East Midlands. “In addition to it being an excellent reflection of Angela’s own personal skills, it also helps show our commitment to professionalism and to providing the highest quality service to our customers.” As of January 2008, all UK-based CEDIA electronic systems professional members will be required to have at least one certified member of staff in full time employment to validate their CEDIA membership. Angela is the third member of staff at Castle Sound & Vision to become a fully fledged CEDIA Certified Professional. This ensures that its status as a CEDIA certified company is maintained.
*CEDIA is the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association, the world’s leading organisation of experienced companies involved in the design and installation of electronic systems for the home. CEDIA has three offices worldwide; one in the UK, one in America and the other in Australia.
